Guide

Continue watching: picking every series up at the right spot

The first tab in the app is the list of what you have in progress. You don't have to remember where you are in anything: Kitazo knows, and puts the next episode in front of you. Here is how to read that list, what each button does, and where the shows you stop following end up.

What is in the list

The Continue tab, first in the bottom bar, shows the series you have started and not finished, with the next episode to watch for each, and the films where you saved the spot you stopped at. A series you have completed, or watched up to the last aired episode, is not here: it is in your library, and comes back to this list on its own when a new episode airs.

Each series row names the next season and episode, says how many episodes are left after it, or last available if it is the latest one out. The NEW badge appears when that episode aired within the last seven days.

A film in this list says Resume at with the minute you reached, or Not started yet if you only saved it. Drag the bar to update the spot; dragging it all the way to the end marks the film as watched.

Watched, next

The Watched, next button marks the episode shown as watched, now, and moves the row on to the following episode. It is the gesture you will use most, which is why it is as short as it can be. If you have turned on Rate after watching in the settings, the rating prompt for that episode appears right after, and you can skip it. The option applies to the list view: in the grid view, the one with just covers and a progress bar, you rate from the episode's page.

To change the date, mark several episodes at once or go back, open the series: the title page has the full controls, episode by episode and season by season. They are described in the guide on marking what you have watched.

Not watched in a while

Below the main list there is a collapsible section, Not watched in a while, with the count of series you have left untouched for over a month. A series lands there when more than thirty days have passed since both your last watch and the air date of the next episode: a series waiting for its new season is not stalled through any fault of yours, and indeed it doesn't appear there until the season arrives.

It is not a telling-off. It keeps the main list clean, holding the series you are actually following, and lets you decide calmly what to do with the others: pick them up, or set them aside.

Setting a series aside

A series row has a pause icon. Tap it and Kitazo asks you to confirm, then moves the series among your set-aside shows: it leaves Continue, you stop getting notifications about its new episodes, and it is not counted among the stalled series. You can do the same from the title page, in the three-dots menu, with Drop series.

A set-aside series loses nothing. Watched episodes stay watched, ratings stay, watch time stays in your stats. The title page shows a Paused pill: tap it and Resume puts it back in Continue exactly where you left it. The full list of what you have set aside is on your profile, under Dropped, split into series and films, with a Resume button on every row.

A film can be dropped too. On the title page, in the Pick up where you left off box, you find Save my spot, Remove saved spot and Drop. A dropped film shows a pill and a Resume film button.

Finished series and up-to-date series

When you mark the last aired episode, the series leaves Continue and Kitazo files it on its own. If the series is over, meaning nothing more will air, it becomes Series completed and a small celebration shows your average rating. If it is still airing, it is Up to date: you have seen everything there is, and the day the next episode airs the series returns to Continue with the NEW badge. On your profile the two are kept apart, Up to date and Finished, inside your watched shows.

An airing series is never marked completed, even if you have seen every aired episode: completed means there is nothing left to wait for.

What is coming out

At the top of the Continue tab there is a calendar icon that opens Coming up: the episodes of the series you follow and the watchlist films due this month, plus whatever you still have to catch up on from earlier months. It is described in the release calendar guide.

Two useful settings

On Android there is also a home-screen widget, Kitazo – Continue watching, with the series in progress and a button to mark the episode without opening the app.
