FAQ

Is Kitazo free?

Yes, Kitazo is completely free for everyone: no hidden costs, no subscription, no paid features.

Is there a phone app?

Kitazo is available on the web and in early access on Android. The iPhone version is coming soon to the App Store.

Can I import my history?

Yes. You can import an export from another tracking platform, or put a Kitazo backup back in. Upload the file and get your watched episodes, ratings and watchlist back. Every import is additive — it only adds what is missing and never overwrites what you already have.

Where does the title data come from?

From TheTVDB, an open database maintained by the community. If a title is missing you can add it there and it will show up here too.

Is it available on the stores?

On Android it's in early access: you can become a tester and download it from kitazo.app/tester. On iOS it's coming soon to the App Store. In the meantime you can use the full web app right at kitazo.app.

How does the anti-spoiler system work?

You can report a comment as a “spoiler”. If a moderator upholds the report, its author gets a strike (and the comment is removed). The first time nothing happens — just a warning. At 3 strikes a temporary block kicks in that only allows commenting on whole titles, not single episodes, so aired episodes can't be spoiled for others who haven't watched them yet. The length grows with each further block: 1 week, then 2, then a month. You're notified at every step.

How does the anti-offense system work?

If you report a comment as “offensive” and a moderator upholds it, the author gets a strike on a separate track. Again the first time is just a warning, and at 3 strikes the block kicks in (1 week, then 2, then a month). The offense block is stricter: you can't comment on titles at all and can only reply to your friends' comments. Every strike and block is notified.

I can't find a movie or show

You can add it yourself on TheTVDB (thetvdb.com). Once approved there it shows up in Kitazo too — sometimes it takes a few days.

How do groups work?

Follow themed groups and vote on proposed titles. Anyone can request a new one; a moderator approves it.

Watch-time stats aren't updating

Watch time is computed from title runtimes. For manually added titles the card needs a runtime: it usually fills in by opening the detail.

Why are there ads?

The banners only try to cover the app's running costs (servers and services). We've tried to place them in the least intrusive spots so they don't get in the way.

Where does the name Kitazo come from?

In modern Greek «κοιτάζω» (pronounced kitazo) is a verb that means “to look / watch”.
